Ethical Issues Associated With Therapy And The Therapeutic Process
Many of the ethical issues that arise in treatment of mental health issues are broadly associated with components that are present in therapy and the therapeutic process. Over the years, a large body of research and discussion has formally or informally centered around the notion of 'common factors' that appear to impact the outcomes and effectiveness of therapy. As can be expected, the exact terms and specific elements that are identified vary considerably. Despite this, they can be helpful in identifying ethical issues that may be associated with these common factors. For the purpose of this discussion, those identified in research by Duncan, Miller and Wampold are utilized. |
